Which subtitle formats can it convert?

It reads SRT, WebVTT, ASS/SSA, YouTube SBV, TTML/DFXP, CSV and Avid SubCap, and exports to any of those plus a plain-text transcript. Every pair works in both directions.

Does my subtitle file upload anywhere?

Accepted Answer

No. The file is parsed and converted entirely in your browser — nothing is uploaded to any server. You can confirm it in your browser's network tab.

How do I convert SRT to Avid SubCap?

Accepted Answer

Drop the .srt, choose Avid SubCap as output, set your project's frame rate (and sequence start timecode if it isn't 00:00:00:00) and download. Timecodes are frame-accurate, including 29.97/59.94 drop-frame.

Can I fix subtitles that are out of sync?

Accepted Answer

Yes — use the time shift option to slide every cue earlier or later by a fixed amount of seconds (e.g. -1.5) while converting, or re-export in the same format just to retime it.

What happens to italics and styling?

Accepted Answer

Italic, bold and underline survive between formats that support them (SRT, VTT, ASS). Formats that are plain-text only (SubCap, SBV, CSV, TXT) get clean unstyled text. You can also force-strip all styling with one toggle.

Question 6

Does it support SCC or EBU STL?

Accepted Answer

Not yet — SCC (CEA-608) and EBU STL are binary broadcast formats, out of scope for this text converter. For Avid, use the SubCap export; for broadcast closed captions, a dedicated captioning tool is the right choice.
